History of Kiama B&B

Landscaping

In the mid 1980’s Tony and Marian van Zanen moved to the south coast town of Kiama after designing and building their family home, which they named “Ki-jeroo” (at the junction of Kiama, Jerrara and Jamberoo). Tony’s expertise in earthmoving, landscaping and concreting were put to the test to turn a steep, rocky barren paddock into a regenerated rainforest, complete with native plants, animals and birds. This he achieved with brilliant results.
Garden Setting

After a 9-month touring holiday in Europe and the UK in 1996 and returning to face the “empty nest” syndrome. Tony and Marian decided upon opening their home to guests – and the result is Kiama Bed & Breakfast. At this time, Bed & Breakfast was a new concept in Kiama and provided and alternative form of accommodation to caravans and camping.

After 18 months of operating 2 guesthouse bed & breakfast rooms, more specialized bed & breakfast accommodation was provided by the addition of a specially designed cedar cottage containing two separate bed & breakfast suites for couples, families or groups. The air conditioned suites and adjoining deluxe living room accommodation with lounge, dining and self contained fully appointed kitchen (complete with dishwasher and microwave), open out onto a spacious shaded verandah with comfortable deck furniture.
More landscaping, gardening and terracing has resulted in a unique property providing interesting plants, browsing paths and play areas whilst being safe, private and utterly peaceful.

Guest Comments:

“Your hospitality, to every detail is FIVE STAR – You have made this a week to remember – we will be back. We have found our haven!! In heartfelt gratitude, Wendy and Sue (Thelma and Louise Restaurant Neutral Bay Wharf)

“We just loved our choice, the place, hospitality tops, peace and serenity – ‘what a hideout’. We have been well looked after, enjoyed the cleanliness (being fussy) the crisp linen, enjoyable breakfast and settings. We will definitely be back with friends and grand-daughter to enjoy the comfort of the cottage. With heartfelt thanks and gratitude for your wonderful company and huge breakfasts. Atmosphere tops. Love Erica and Franklin

“Marian and Tony, once again we had a lovely stay, wonderful company and friends and last but not least the excellent hospitality – it’s almost like home. Second stay and it will definitely not be our last, so we will be back and always keep in touch”

“This is a special cottage for me because this is where Ari proposed to me and I happily accepted. So how much more special can it be? Thanks Tony and Marian for once again a beautiful time.” Love Essie and Ari
